The State of Connecticut is seeking seasonal employees to work in various roles throughout the state's parks and campgrounds. These positions are available for a limited duration, typically from mid-April through mid-October.
Job Responsibilities
Park visitors will be greeted by staff who provide general ticket booth services, including ringing up parking fees, selling season passes, and answering questions about the park and its rules and regulations. Additionally, staff will perform work related to the maintenance and operation of DEEP managed lands and facilities, including litter pickup, cleaning, mowing, raking, and painting. They may also supervise and work with an assigned crew of Seasonal Maintainers in activities involving the operation and maintenance of DEEP programs and facilities. Furthermore, staff will assist in managing the total operation of a State-owned campground under the supervision of a Park and Recreation Supervisor.
Key Qualifications
To be successful in this role, applicants should have experience in retail and/or customer service, custodial work, landscaping, or a related skilled trade. Preferred qualifications include experience in campground management, possessing a valid Motor Vehicle Operator license, holding a valid license to apply pesticides, or having college training in a specific field. Staff must also possess and maintain adequate physical strength and stamina to perform the duties of the class.
