What are the responsibilities and job description for the Wildlife Management - Habitat Program WHAMM position at State of Connecticut?
Introduction
The Wetlands Habitat and Mosquito Management (WHAMM) program of the Wildlife Habitat Unit has statewide responsibility to conduct mosquito control activities in coastal and inland sites, applies herbicides to control invasive plants, operates light and heavy equipment in wetland environments, and assists in management activities on state wildlife areas. This position will work primarily with the Wetland Habitat and Mosquito Management (WHAMM) Program at its Franklin location but will assist others in the Wildlife Habitat Unit as needed.
WHAMM Seasonal Resource Assistant
- Approximately 6 months in duration not exceeding 1,030 hours total. 40 hours weekly.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Valid driver's license.
- Must be willing to obtain the required Connecticut Pesticide Junior Operator's license (training and exam provided at no cost).
- Employee is required to work indoors in a variety of settings and out of doors in natural habitats in a variety of adverse weather conditions and under potentially hazardous field conditions (e.g., bee stings or insect bites, poison ivy, rocky terrain, mud, wetlands, etc.).
