Summary Statement

Start your career and gain valuable experience managing government vehicles with a Top 100 nationally ranked Fleet! A Fleet Technician will provide direct customer service to state agencies, issuing vehicles from a central motor pool, tracking & monitoring vehicle assignments, scheduling & coordinating preventative maintenance and repairs, inspecting vehicles for safety, serviceability, and cleanliness to ensure vehicles are in optimum condition. Basic automotive knowledge and computer skills are required. This position will require two-week call-back after-hours assistance rotations, during which a roadside assistance vehicle is provided. If dispatched after hours, the Fleet Tech is paid for the extra time working.

Essential Functions

Essential functions are fundamental, core functions common to all positions in the class series and are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all job duties for any one position in the class.�Since class specifications are descriptive and not restrictive, incumbents can complete job duties of similar kind not specifically listed here. Dispatches vehicles from a centralized motor pool; tracks and monitors vehicle assignments through the use of an automated information system.� �� Coordinates, arranges and delivers vehicles for routine service, repair and warranty activities to contractual automotive vendors following approved purchasing practices.� � Creates and maintains work orders, enters repairs, parts, and labor descriptions into an automated information system, schedules work with vendors and estimates/calculates costs.� � Inspects vehicles for safety, serviceability and cleanliness to ensure vehicles remain in optimum condition.� � Performs routine maintenance activities such as adding oil or fluids, filling window washer reservoirs and checking and adjusting tire pressure.�May change tires, batteries, filters or wiper blades when necessary.� � � Prepares and maintains records of vehicle activity.

Job Requirements

JOB REQUIREMENTS for Fleet Services Technician Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas: Knowledge of preventative maintenance on vehicles and equipment such as lubricating, cleaning, and servicing.� Knowledge of using an automated information system to enter, update, modify, delete, retrieve/inquire and report on data. Knowledge of record keeping. Knowledge of math such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, or decimals. Possession of a valid Driver's License (not suspended, revoked or cancelled, or disqualified from driving).�
