Summary Statement

An incumbent in this class is responsible for planning, assigning, reviewing, and evaluating the work of staff engaged in providing a variety of services which expedite the processing of civil and criminal petitions filed with the Family Court of Delaware.

Essential Functions

Essential functions are fundamental, core functions common to all positions in the class series and are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all job duties for any one position in the class.� Since class specifications are descriptive and not restrictive, incumbents can complete job duties of similar kind not specifically listed here. Ensures quality service to Family Court litigants as well as the efficient and effective filing of pleadings and petitions. Plans, assigns, reviews, and evaluates the work of staff; determines initial and on-going development needs of staff through on-the-job training or the use of outside resources. Provides input on the development, implementation, and evaluation of Family Court programs, policies, and procedures. Serves as an informational resource to the community, clients, and state and private agencies concerning Family Court jurisdiction and services. Collects and compiles statistical data; prepares narrative, statistical, and unit activity reports.

Job Requirements

JOB REQUIREMENTS for Family Court Intake Services Supervisor Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:� Three years experience in health or human services work such as applying theories, principles, laws and practices of health or human services programs and services that assist with and improve life for individuals, families, or communities such as financial support, employment, unemployment, housing, health care, disease prevention, substance abuse, child protective services, physical/mental health treatment and prevention or rehabilitation. Six months experience in managing cases as they move through the legal process. Three years experience in interpreting laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies, and procedures. Three years experience in staff supervision which includes planning, assigning, reviewing, and evaluating the work of others.

Criminal background check:� A satisfactory criminal background check is required as a condition of hire.� The recruiting agency may require the applicant to pay for the criminal background check as part of the conditional offer of hire.
