What are the responsibilities and job description for the Brandywine Creek State Park Maintenance Positions position at State of Delaware?
Introduction
Brandywine Creek State Park is divided by grey stone walls that were built of local stone in the late 1800s, when the property was a dairy farm owned by the du Pont family. Three Nature preserves are located within the park, including : Tulip Tree Woods, a majestic stand of 190-year-old tulip poplar, and Freshwater Marsh, the first nature preserve in Delaware. The area became a state park in 1965.
Summary Statement
This seasonal position will be responsible for assisting maintenance staff with all aspects of maintaining the park grounds and its facilities. Work is performed indoors and outdoors under various weather conditions. This position is required to operate light duty equipment such as trucks, tractors, mowers and other lawn equipment. Applicants must be available to work weekends, evenings and holidays as scheduled. Work is performed indoors and outdoors, weekends, evenings and holidays as scheduled to meet facility needs.
Essential Functions

- May performs grounds maintenance tasks such as mowing, trimming, trail maintenance, landscape bed maintenance, heavy lifting, trash removal, vegetation removal, leaf removal and snow / ice removal.
- May performs custodial services in restrooms, offices, and other buildings.
- May operate landscaping equipment and use of hand and power tools.
- May set-up, monitoring and clean-up support for park programs and special events.
- Provide excellent customer service and park information to visitors.
- Must be able to demonstrate responsibility, dependability, and good communication skills.
- Maintain a positive attitude.
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
