Essential Functions
These Deputy Attorneys General will manage caseloads involving sexual assaults, as well as cases of child death, abuse, and neglect. They will attend victim interviews at the Children’s Advocacy Center (CAC) and conduct pre- and post-arrest intakes with investigators. In collaboration with medical professionals, detectives, and child welfare professionals, they will investigate these cases, evaluate evidence for charging decisions, and prosecute crimes supported by the evidence. Additionally, they will share on-call responsibilities with other Deputy Attorneys General to assist police with after-hours investigations.
Job Requirements
Strengths for these positions include the ability to manage complex investigations; an interest in, and willingness to learn and understand, medical evidence; strong judgment in evaluating and resolving criminal cases; and the capacity to anticipate and effectively research legal and medical issues in litigation. Successful candidates must be able to establish strong working relationships with detectives, medical personnel, child welfare professionals, other Deputy Attorneys General, support staff, and court personnel. Candidates should also be prepared to independently try serious cases and apply relevant laws and court rules. Membership in the Delaware Bar is required.
