The Executive Director of the Family Justice Center is appointed by and serves at the pleasure of a majority of the members of the Council. This position requires a candidate who is strongly motivated to help victims and survivors. The job entails developing policies and procedures, in collaboration with state, local, and community-based crime victim service providers and local survivors of violence and abuse, to ensure coordinated services are provided to victims and survivors of crime and to enhance the safety of victims, survivors, and professionals at the Family Justice Centers.

The following information provides an overview of the skills, qualities, and qualifications needed for this role.

Preferred Qualification

  • Experience working under the supervision of a board of directors.
  • Experience in the criminal justice system or other government or nonprofit agencies that deal with and / or provide services to its victims / survivors.

Essential Functions

Essential functions are fundamental, core functions common to all positions in the class series and are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all job duties for any one position in the class.   • Manages day-to-day Council operations; acts as secretary to the Council.
  • Prepares recommendations and proposes legislation for the Council and its committees to consider.
  • Interprets the objectives, priorities, policies, and procedures of the Council.
  • Proposes initiatives and actions to comply with the Family Justice Center law’s mandates and also recommends changes to the Council’s Bylaws and other policies and procedures.
  • Directs and supervises Council staff.
  • Represents the Council on committees, commissions, and task forces.

    JOB REQUIREMENTS for Executive Director – Family Justice Center

    Applicants must have education, training and / or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas.   • Possession of a Bachelor’s degree or higher.
  • Experience in the field of victim work, including services for victims / survivors.
  • Experience in interpreting laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Experience in staff supervision which includes planning, assigning, reviewing, and evaluating the work of others.
  • Conditions of Hire
