Summary Statement
The incumbent provides administrative, supervisory, andscientific support to the Laboratory Manager II in the operation and managementof the Forensic Chemistry Unit. The Laboratory Manager I may assign, oversee,and review analytical chemistry work conducted by forensic chemists regardingboth controlled substance and fire debris evidence. The Lab Manager I ensuresall work is completed according to accreditation standards and applicable laws.
Preferred Qualification
Possessionof a Master's Degree in Biology,Chemistry, Forensic Science or related field.

- Plans, organizes and supervises professional and technical staff.
- Sets priorities and mediates conflicting priorities; schedules and operates laboratory functions, ensuring cost effective and accurate results.
- Develops, recommends and implements laboratory objectives and policies; oversees and participates in the development of modified / new methods, techniques and procedures.
- Assigns, oversees and reviews analytical work conducted by staff.
- Ensures all work is completed according to various state and federal laws, rules and regulations.
- Prepares activity and / or statistical reports.
