What are the responsibilities and job description for the Unemployment Insurance Benefits Supervisor position at State of Delaware?
Summary Statement
This Supervisor will be the lead team member in researching and resolving constituent concerns regarding their experience with Unemployment. This individual may lead a team to complete this work. This individual will be key personnel making improvement recommendations to leadership to improve communication to constituents and stakeholders.
Essential Functions

- Direct and coordinate the daily work of the technical and clerical staff responsible for making monetary eligibility determinations and processing federal and combined wage claims : plan, assign and review work, evaluate employees.
- Train employees in proper work methods and on changes in unemployment compensation laws, guidelines, and office procedures.
- Authorize the monetary eligibility of State and Federal claims by calculating the wage credits and then determining the weekly and maximum benefit amounts.
- Interpret and direct the application of new and revised policies and procedures.
- Review and authorize potential charges to other states involved in combined wage claims with Delaware as the paying state.
- Review and authorize potential tax charge statements to reimbursable employers, i.e. claims involving state, public and non-profit employers.
- Assist Local Office Managers and their staff in interpreting the more complex areas of unemployment compensation law and regulations.
- Identify divisional problems and make recommendations for improvement or modification to superior.
- Participates in divisional management work groups, and task forces to review current regulations and procedures, develop new office policies, procedures, and make recommendations regarding the utilization of manpower.
- Notify the local offices regarding invalid and cancelled claims, overpayments, adjustments, and incomplete data.
