This posting will be used to fill multiple OPS vacancies in the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation Financial Payments Section.

 

Job Description

 

This position is an OPS temporary accounting position that is in the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation’s (DVR) Financial Payments Section that is administratively assigned to the Bureau of the Comptroller. This position is responsible for a variety of accounting duties as well as other office duties.

 

Specific Responsibilities

 

  • Audit and process client service authorizations.
  • Assist by answering telephones and inquiries about payments.
  • Research past due payments.
  • Assist with processing other vendor payments in the section.
  • Request duplicate warrants and copies of warrants from the State Comptroller’s Office.
  • Assist the front office by answering the switchboard and opening and sorting the mail.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.
  • Attendance at work is an essential job function.

Knowledge of accounting principles, practices and procedures.

Knowledge of state and federal requirements specific to financial payments for DVR.

Ability to prepare financial statements and reports.

Ability to review fiscal data for accuracy and completeness.

Ability to analyze and interpret accounting data.

Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures.

Ability to communicate effectively.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques.

BACKGROUND SCREENING REQUIREMENT

It is the policy of the Florida Department of Education that applicants for employment/volunteer undergo Level 2 background screening in accordance with the requirements of Chapter 435, Florida Statutes, as a condition of employment or being permitted to serve as a volunteer. No applicant for a designated position will be employed or permitted to volunteer until the level 2 screening results are received, reviewed, and approved by the Department. Level 2 background screening shall include, but not be limited to, fingerprinting for statewide criminal and juvenile records checks through the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, and federal criminal records checks through the Federal Bureau of Investigation and may include local criminal records checks through local law enforcement agencies.
