POSITION DESCRIPTION: Provide technical assistance to the Office of Information Technology (OIT) application development teams with primary emphasis on support of the Information Builders software suite of products. This also includes coordination with other technical support groups within OIT to ensure proper integration with the overall computer and business environment.


Participate in the coordination, implementation, and support of the Information Builders software suite of products. Transition and migrate WebFOCUS reports to Microsoft Power BI or other approved reporting platforms.


Provide assistance to application development personnel in troubleshooting problems related to development software.


Perform the creation, migration and deletion of models and objects in the Central Encyclopedia according to the Department's model management strategy. Uses model migration to maintain consistency of common objects across project models.


Assist in the administration of the Central Encyclopedia, including definition and classification of users and groups, model security and backup, optimizing the relationship between the Central Encyclopedia and the repository, encyclopedia conversions and resolution of encyclopedia problems.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: ABILITY TO PROVIDE TECHNICAL SUPPORT TO COMPUTER APPLICATIONS PROGRAMMERS; ABILITY TO DEVELOP COMPUTER PROGRAMS; KNOWLEDGE OF DB2 AND CUSTOMER INFORMATION CONTROL SYSTEM (CICS); KNOWLEDGE OF MICROSOFT POWER BI OR OTHER REPORTING PLATFORMS. ABILITY TO IDENTIFY AND DEFINE USER TASK NEEDS; ABILITY TO PROCESS INFORMATION LOGICALLY; ABILITY TO CONDUCT SHORT-RANGE AND LONG-RANGE PROJECT PLANNING STUDIES; ABILITY TO ESTABLISH AND MAINTAIN EFFECTIVE WORKING RELATIONSHIPS WITH OTHERS; ABILITY TO COMMUNICATE TECHNICAL DATA PROCESSING INFORMATION, BOTH VERBALLY AND IN WRITING.


OTHER JOB RELATED REQUIREMENTS: This position may be entrusted with access to confidential or sensitive data, with specific authorization from the Manager of Application Services. This position is authorized to perform duties related to the production environment which requires a high level of trusted security.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and one year of experience in computer systems analysis and/or computer programming; or a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in one of the computer sciences or in management information systems; or two years of experience as described above and either (1) completion of a 720 classroom hour program of study from a vocational/technical school or accredited community college in an area of data processing (excluding data entry), or (2) 60 semester or 90 quarter hours of college course work from an accredited institution which includes four courses in computer science or management information systems.  Experience as described above can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.  Completion of a one-year program of study from a vocational/technical school in an area of data processing (excluding data entry) can substitute for one year of the required experience.
