Office of Commission Clerk:

The Office of Commission Clerk is the official keeper of the Florida Public Service Commission’s (FPSC) public records and consists of two sections: the Documents and Case Management Section and the Events and Hearing Reporting Section.  The Documents and Case Management Section accepts and processes filings in the Case Management System, maintains the Master Commission Directory of regulated utilities and is responsible for managing and coordinating the establishment of new dockets, issuance of orders and notices to parties and interested persons.  The Events and Hearing Reporting Section is responsible for preparation and issuance of Commission Conference Agendas, preparation and filing of official record transcripts and hearing exhibits, maintains the FPSC’s Schedule of Live Events and provides support staff to record events.

 

Description of Job Duties:

The Commission Deputy Clerk I position is within the Office of the Commission Clerk. The incumbent’s duties and responsibilities are as follows:

 

Process Commission orders, notices, memoranda and other filings for issuance.

 

Review Records Clerk e-mail, conduct research and respond to request, or route as appropriate.

 

Receive, convert, print, scan, and enter descriptions for correspondence in Case Management System.

 

Conduct microfilm research and digitize microfilm.

 

Answers main telephone line, assist and route calls.

 

Minimum Qualifications: 

Four years secretarial or clerical work experience.

 

College education from an accredited institution can substitute at the rate of 30 semester or 45 quarter hours per year for the required work experience.

 

One year of legal experience is preferred.

Employment Eligibility:

Federal law requires all employers to verify the identity and employment eligibility of all persons hired to work in the United States. The Florida Public Service Commission participates in the Department of Homeland Security’s Electronic Employment Verification Program (E-Verify) to assist in this required verification process.

 

Civil Service Law requires all males born after December 31, 1959, to register with the Selective Service System unless they meet certain exemptions under the law. Failing to register when required makes one ineligible for appointment.

 

Preference in appointment and employment shall be given to veterans and other persons as required by Chapter 295, Florida Statutes, Veterans’ Law. Applicant must provide the required proof of preference at the time of submitting an application.

Pursuant to Section 112.313, F.S., FPSC Senior Management Service or Selected Exempt Service employees shall not personally represent another person or entity for compensation before the Commission, for a period of two years following vacation of his/her position.  Exceptions to this law are provided for former Commission employees who are employed by another agency of State government and those employed by the Commission prior to January 1, 1995.
