Our Organization and Mission : The Office represents the State of Florida in state and federal civil and criminal courts, from trial courts to the Supreme Court of the United States.

Position Summary : This position is in the Office of the Attorney General within the Information Technology (IT) unit in Tallahassee, Florida.

Pay : $55,000 - $65,000 Annually

Qualifications :

  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and four (4) years of experience in computer systems analysis, computer programming or in planning or designing distributed computer systems; or
  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course of study in one (1) of the computer sciences or in management information systems and three (3) years of experience as described above; or
  • A master's degree from an accredited college or university with major course of study in one (1) of the computer sciences or in management information systems and two (2) year experience as described above; or
  • A doctorate from an accredited college or university with major course of study in one (1) of the computer sciences or in management information systems and one (1) year of experience as described above; or
  • Five (5) years of experience as described above and either (1) completion of a 1440 classroom hour program of study from a vocational / technical school or accredited community college in an area of data processing (excluding data entry), or (2) 60 semester or 90 quarter hours of college course work from an accredited institution which includes four courses in computer science or management information systems.
  • Experience as described above can be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.
  • Completion of a one (1) year program of study from a vocational / technical school in an area of data processing (excluding data entry) can substitute for one (1) year of the required experience.
  • At least two (2) year experience administrating or have administrative rights with MS SQL Servers. Additional (2) year experience with writing T-SQL.

Preference given to candidates with designing and implementing relational database architecture. Coding in C#, C , C , Powershell, SSIS, SSRS, Microsoft BI, business analyst skills are a plus. Relevant Microsoft Certifications will be a plus.

The Work You Will Do : The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following :

  • This position may require occasional work outside normal business days and hours, which is Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm.
  • This position is responsible for providing administration and support of the SQL environments and solutions, and related subsystems, within the Office of the Attorney General (OAG).
  • Supports the design, development, testing, deployment of changes, and support of all OAG SQL solutions.
  • Must be responsive, efficient, and professional in response to client support requests and requests from peers in Information Technology (IT).
  • Teamwork approach in collaboration with Information Technology (IT) staff and other business units in the OAG.
  • Support the end-to-end lifecycle of SQL solutions, including code promotion, system upgrades, maintenance fixes, and patches.
  • Coordinate with IT staff and end users on requested customizations, and review the technical requirements to design, test, implement, and maintain a solution.
  • Assist with development of standard operation procedures.
  • Provide on-going support of SQL and related environment, including incident analysis and resolution.
  • Work closely with IT Application Development, Infrastructure, Information Security Manager (ISM), and the Help Desk to ensure the successful deployment, support, and availability of business systems.
  • Have strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and bridge the gap between technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Monitor quality and performance of the SQL environment and applications through testing and maintenance.
  • Assign, maintain, and review application security roles and privileges. Collaborate with Infrastructure staff to conduct routine hardware and software audits of servers to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, configuration guidelines, Monitors and tunes the system to achieve optimum performance levels.
  • Facilitate and / or create new procedures and processes that support advancing technologies and / or capabilities.
  • Provide peer level review and mentoring to other team members.
  • Maintain proficiency in technologies and tools needed to customize SQL solutions.
  • Responsible for support and assistance with advanced queries, reports and scripts.
  • Support data exchange with internal and external systems.
  • This includes verifying scheduled jobs run as required, troubleshooting cause of job failure, resolving issue(s) and ensuring job runs successfully.
  • As a state agency, data with external systems.
  • Incumbent should be timely and reliable with work, documentation, and interaction with teammates.
  • Perform other related work as required.
