Minimum Qualifications
- Six (6) years of professional experience in Anthropology, Archaeology, or related field. A master’s degree in Anthropology, Archaeology, or related field from an accredited college or university can substitute for the years of experience required.
- At least two (2) years of professional archaeological field experience that includes survey, excavation, mapping and NRHP assessment
- Technical archaeologist experience including laboratory analysis, report writing, and data management
- Familiar with Acquisition and Restoration Council and DHR’S role in land management
- Knowledge of pertinent state and federal cultural resource legislation

Duties And Responsibilities
- Perform cultural resource surveys on Board of Trustees Lands
- Coordinate Archaeological Resource Management Training.
- Assist PLA supervisor with land management activities.
- Conduct research on state-owned sites or collections.
- Review applications and deliverables for archaeological projects funded by DHR Grants.
- Act as DHR lead on the Land Management Uniform Accounting Council (LMUAC).
- Perform site damage assessments when needed.
- Increase visibility of the Bureau of Archaeological Research through outreach, partnerships, or publications.
- Perform other work-related duties as required.
- Knowledge of Florida’s prehistoric & historic archaeological cultures, including the types of sites & their general distribution in different geographic settings
- Knowledge of site discovery & analysis procedures
- Knowledge of Florida’s historic preservation laws pertinent to state land management
- Ability to conduct field research in the different environmental settings found throughout Florida
- Ability to use MS Office suite (Word, Excel & Access)
- Ability to use mapping programs, GPS & ARC GIS
- Ability to prepare professional quality reports on the results of archaeological projects in a timely manner.
