POSITION: Senior Clerk (Classification)

POSITION NUMBER: 700017948

This position is not a telework position and is required to report to the FDC office in the area it serves.

This advertisement is for a Career Service position located at Lowell Correctional Institution in the Classification Department.

 

Salary: $33,760.22 Annually

SALARY WILL BE DETERMINED IN ACCORDANCE WITH CURRENT PAY POLICY.

 

JOB DUTIES:

  • Clerical Support: Prepare letters, memos, and other clerical tasks for the Classification Department. Help with special projects and any other clerical duties as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Inmate Records: Complete clerical tasks in the Inmate Records area, such as auditing new inmate files, maintaining, and organizing inmate records, and preparing forms and documents.
  • Data Entry: Input data into the CDC database system, retrieve and print requested information, and keep records updated.
  • Mail Handling: Receive, date stamp, sort, and distribute mail for the Classification Department. Ensure all mail is delivered to the right staff promptly.
  • Communication: Answer phone calls professionally, provide customer service to inmate families, and forward or take messages for other Classification Staff.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must possess a high school diploma or it’s equivalent.
  • Must have at least one year of clerical experience.

BACKGROUND SCREENING REQUIREMENT

The Florida Department of Corrections requires all job applicants and volunteers to pass a Level 2 background check as per Chapter 435, Florida Statutes. This check must be completed before they can start working or volunteering.

The Level 2 background check includes fingerprinting for state and federal criminal records and may also include local criminal records checks.

According to Florida law (S. 110.1127(1)), this position requires a background investigation, including fingerprinting.
