Your Specific Responsibilities:

This position works as a Construction Specialist- within the Division of Community Development, Office of Long-Term Resiliency (OLTR) Rebuild Florida.

The Construction Specialist serves as the person that may perform oversight work in the field and is responsible for supporting the Construction Supervisor’s efforts in managing the vendor in charge of project management and the Contractors.  Assists with construction task assignments, change orders, procurement, project awards, contractor evaluation, and other construction processes for the Hurricane Irma and Michael program repair and/or reconstruction processes.

 

  • Supporting management of the state construction vendor prequalified list of authorized vendors.
  • Supporting oversight of the award process of construction projects to vendors.
  • Supporting efforts to negotiate with vendor services on adjustments to contract.
  • Supporting management of the construction change control process.
  • Construction Project Management/Liaison
  • Supporting management of the payment processing for all vendor payments.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Must be knowledgeable of HUD CDBG-DR law and rules.
  • Knowledge/experience in construction processes.
  • Must understand basic construction process and principles.
  • Must have the ability to demonstrate effective verbal and written communication.
  • Must have the ability to evaluate procedural issues; review and prepare decisions.
  • Must be able to thrive in a fast-paced work environment, while working independently as a team member.
  • Applicant must have the ability to compile data from a variety of sources and present it in a logical manner.
  • Working knowledge of computer software including, word processing, spreadsheets and email systems.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.

 

Qualifications:

As a condition of pre-employment eligibility, a Level 2 security background screening is required, which consists of fingerprinting and a check of local, state, and national law enforcement records. 

 

Other job-related requirements for this position:

  • Some overnight travel for extended period of time may be required.

 

Pay: $49,584.67 to $52,000 annually
