Your Specific Responsibilities:
The Health Support Aide works under the direct supervision of the Community Health Nursing Consultant with full understanding of the confidentiality of all Aide activities to include but are not limited to: Monitors and manages health area providing first aid, assisting with prescription and non-prescription medications for students (after training), takes vital signs and refers abnormal results to the nurse. In absence of the nurse, notify the principal before contacting parents for child to be sent home. Maintaining health room logs and preparation of client’s records. Performs routine vision and hearing, scoliosis screenings, BMI's and refers students who perform unsatisfactorily on initial screening examinations for evaluation by the school nurse. Transport client's identifiable information in a secure locked bag for work purposes only, in accordance with all HIPAA guidelines. Employee may travel to other schools to provide services. Performs clerical duties such as keeping records and reports, filing, making telephone calls, routine referrals and follow-up activities as delegated by the nurse. Assist with the preparation of programs and presentations. Responsible for the operation of audio-visual equipment and setting up the room for activities, obtaining required materials and returning them to storage. Accurately complete leave and attendance, and super bill. 100% of EAR's shall be coded, with 97% completed within a 7-day time span. Assist in extra school activities, health fairs and health promotions. Performs other related duties as directed by management.

Knowledge, skills and abilities, including utilization of equipment, required for the position: Skill in the use of medical equipment and instruments used in providing patient care. Ability to demonstrate manual dexterity in providing patient care. Ability to administer medications and treatments. Ability to work with patients. Ability to interpret and follow medical instructions. Ability to observe patients' symptoms and reactions to treatment.
