ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

 

Occasional to moderate travel required. 

 

Position may respond to emergencies, including natural disasters or other type incidents requiring travel, as needed.

JOB DUTIES:

 

Responsible for oversight of one or more recreation areas, with fixed facilities such as bathhouses, swimming piers or docks, campsites, picnic tables, horse paddocks and stables, dining rooms, open-air pavilions, etc. Duties include personal contact with users and visitors to the recreation area, providing information, enforcing State Forest rules and policies, and providing for the general safety of all individuals using the area.

 

Responsible for maintaining assigned recreation facilities, including cleaning restrooms and stocking supplies as often as needed (sometimes more than once a day), picking up litter, making minor electrical, plumbing, and carpentry repairs, landscape maintenance including mowing and trimming, assisting with garbage pickup, posting signs and maintaining information kiosks. May work alone or as part of a group.

 

Responsible for collection and counting of user fees and maintaining accountable, auditable records. Responsible for maintaining a daily count of campground occupancy. May be responsible for operation of credit card payment system, processing of campsite reservations and inspection of horse health documents.

 

Responsible for overseeing the work of campsite Volunteers and OPS positions, which may include Lifeguards. May be required to work weekends and late shifts as needed. Also, may be required to work in multiple recreation areas (improved and unimproved) as needed.

 

Persons in this class perform periodic special duties such as assisting with prescribed burning on the State Forest and providing assigned support during special recreation events.

 

Performs operator-level maintenance on all equipment used in recreation areas, such as pickup and stake-body trucks, wheel tractors, mowers, bush-hogs, etc.

 

Performs other duties as assigned.
