STATE ATTORNEY'S OFFICE, 4TH CIRCUIT- Human Resources Specialist II

 

 State Attorney’s Office for the Fourth Judicial Circuit of Florida

 

Our Organization and Mission:  The mission of the State Attorney’s Office is to pursue justice for the citizens of the Fourth Judicial Circuit of Florida and to fairly and impartially enforce the law.

 

Position Summary:  This position works as part of a legal support team handling administrative and legal support responsibilities.  It is a full-time, highly responsible position that requires the individual to work independently with limited supervision.  Strong organizational skills, excellent communication skills (both verbal and written), and the ability to multitask effectively are essential.  This position operates in a fast-paced environment and assists a team of attorneys and investigators.  

 

The ideal candidate will have strong spelling and grammar, proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel, and either paralegal education or training, or experience working in a legal environment in a support role.

 

Human Resource Specialist II

 

This position performs a variety of tasks to assist Assistant State Attorneys with the completion of required administrative duties not limited to:

Examples of Duties

 

  • Understand and apply office rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Effective verbal and written communications.
  • Collect, organize and evaluate data.
  • Organize and maintain personnel records.
  • Compose correspondence.
  • Utilize problem-solving techniques.
  • Plan, organize, schedule and coordinate work assignments.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Assist with interviews, application review, employee terminations when necessary.
  • Inform and train staff on office policies and procedures.
  • Schedule drug testing, background check, fingerprints and written tests for applicants selected for employment.
  • Understand and apply basic principles of employment laws.
  • Assist with one or more personnel functions such as selection, classification and pay, employee benefits, employer/employee relations or training.
  • Prepare forms for insurance, withholding, deductions for credit union, saving bonds and all other payroll deductions.
  • Assist in the preparation of personnel handbooks for orientation and education of new personnel. Prepares materials, plans and conducts orientation and training classes.
  • Answer phone calls related to employment, verification of employment on present and past employees.

 Requirements

 

A high school diploma or equivalency and one (1) year of experience in a personnel department or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

 

Preference may be given to applicants with:

 

  • At least 2 years of experience as an HR generalist.
  • Expertise with HR processes and programs such as Worker’s Comp, FMLA, Benefits, Staffing and Employee Relations. 
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
