Science Lab Assistant

The Science Lab Assistant works under the direct supervision of faculty members to assist students within the Natural Sciences labs.

• Assists lab instructor in helping students identify structures on handouts and models, use the microscope, adhere to safety procedures, and review for exams;
• Additional lab duties will include photocopying lab materials, light cleaning, organization, and maintenance of program-specific equipment;
• Demonstrates professionalism in contact with students, coworkers and the public.
• Maintains and disseminates necessary supplies;
• Participates in assessment, planning, budgeting, and staff development;
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• Oral and written communication skills
• Skill in the operation of computers and job-related software programs.
• Organizational and time management skills
• Ability to assist students individually or in groups

• High school diploma or GED
• Successful completion of an Anatomy and Physiology course within the last 3 years *or* previous Anatomy and Physiology teaching experience.

In addition to the minimum qualifications:

• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
• Completion of BIOL 2113/Lab and BIOL 2214/Lab at Southern Regional Technical College

• Hourly
• Salary commensurate with qualifications and relevant experience
