Full Job Description
Therapeutic Mentoring offers structured, one-to-one, strength-based support services between a therapeutic mentor and a youth or adult. A therapeutic mentor is involved in supporting,coaching, modeling, and training the youth/adult in age-appropriate behaviors,interpersonal communication, problem solving, life skills, conflict resolution, and relating appropriately to other youth and adults while engaged in community based services and programs. Mentoring is designed to give the youth/adult the opportunity for skill building through experiences that would naturally occur in their everyday life, at their home, foster home, school, or other setting. To help the youth/adult develop a specified skill, the mentor works to model, educate,motivate, and coach them on how to use and practice overcoming obstacles related to these skills.
Qualifications, Skills and Requirements
- Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Preferred: two years college toward a Bachelors Degree in the Human Service Field (Psychology, Social Work, Etc...)
- Active Driver's License with an excellent driving record is essential
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Self-motivated, good organizational skills, flexibility, collaborative skills and able to multi-task.
- Ability to work with a wide range of people and show sensitivity to individual differences.
- Ability to communicate in a professional manner with other staff members, volunteers, and clients.
- Spanish/English Bilingual is preferred
- Must be able to pass a comprehensive background investigation that will include a CBI, FBI (fingerprints) and CDHS BIU Child Abuse/Neglect Database.
- Must pass a urinalysis (normal results).
- Must be in good standing in all certifications/licensures and past employment.
- 3 professional references and past employer contact information is essential in resume.
Must be open to working evenings and weekends.
Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour
