EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Positions in this class serve as unit supervisors with full technical and administrative responsibility over a group of Child/Adult Protective Services Specialists, possibly other professional staff engaged in providing direct protective services work, and non-professional support staff. Positions are responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the activities of the unit in order to meet program and organizational objectives. Positions assign, review, and evaluate the work of subordinate staff; provide technical guidance, staff training, and development; counsel and discipline/recommend discipline for staff; and perform other related duties as necessary. Positions may assume stronger authority and control over protective service cases which are in an extreme state of crisis, subject to intense public scrutiny, which may be precedent-setting, or which are being handled by less experienced staff. Positions may also make recommendations regarding the development and/or revision of program policies and procedures.This recruitment is being conducted for the Child Welfare Services Branch (CWSB) of the Department of Human Services. The CWSB provide services for child protection, foster care, adoption, independent living skills, case management foster home recruitment and licensing and contracted support and treatment services to prevent and remedy abuse and neglect.
