The work involves assessing, recruiting, evaluating and upgrading volunteer services for the assigned program area(s); representing the assigned program area(s) at staff orientations and meetings; drafting legislations and policies and procedures relating to volunteerism; securing contributions, determining specific needs and distributing contributions to organizational units within the institution, department and other State agencies; serving as public relations coordinator and conducting educational and informational services for public and private agencies; and performs other duties as assigned. To qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements:
Legal Authorization to Work:
The State of Hawaii requires all persons seeking employment with the government of the State shall be citizens, nationals, or permanent resident aliens of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States.
Education:
Graduation from an accredited four (4) year college or university with a bachelor's degree.
General Experience:
Two (2) years of responsible professional experience which provided knowledge of principles of human behavior and motivation and techniques of dealing effectively with people in groups and/or individually, and which demonstrated the ability to learn and apply rules, regulations and/or other guidelines; communicate effectively, orally and in writing; and plan, organize and carry out assigned activities independently.
Specialized Experience:
One (1) year of progressively responsible professional work experience which involved planning, promoting and coordinating volunteer health services in an institution or health center, and which included orienting and training volunteers and evaluating their services and developing programs of public information on volunteer activities as well as program goals, functions and needs.
