The immediate vacancy is located in Waipahu to Aiea with the Department of Human Services.
Salary: $5,918 to $7,198 per month (SR-24, Step D to I).
Note: Hiring rates will be based on availability of funds, the applicant's qualifications, and other relevant factors.
Plans, organizes, supervises, and directs the public assistance employment and training and supportive services activities of a unit, section, or small to moderate size branch in the provision of direct services to eligible individuals and families; or plans and supervises the program development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation functions for the public assistance employment and training and supportive services programs.To qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements:
Legal Authorization to Work Requirement:
The State of Hawaii requires all persons seeking employment with the government of the State shall be citizens, nationals, or permanent resident aliens of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States.
Education: A bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university.
General Experience: One and one-half (1 1/2) years of progressively responsible professional experience in the field of social work, individual or family counseling, or related experience which involved assisting individuals and/or families resolve personal, social, employment and/or emotional problems. This experience must have involved counseling or guidance in situations where individuals had moderately difficult to difficult problems of grasping or understanding the nature of their problems, choosing between various possible courses of action, adjusting to environmental conditions and/or acquiring or sustaining proper motivation.
Specialized Experience: Two (2) years of progressively responsible professional work experience which demonstrated knowledge of the goals, objectives, standards, services and activities of the public assistance employment and training and supportive services program.
Supervisory Aptitude: is the demonstration of aptitude or potential for the performance of supervisory duties through successful completion of regular or special assignments which involve some supervisory responsibilities or aspects; by servicing as a group or team leader; or in similar work in which opportunities for demonstrating supervisory capabilities exist; by completion of training courses in supervision accompanied by application of supervisory skills in work assignments; or by favorable appraisals by a supervisor indicating the possession of supervisory potential.
A. Supervising a professional staff. The experience must have included:
1) Planning, organizing, scheduling, and directing the work of others;
2) Assigning and reviewing their work;
3) Advising them on difficult work problems;
4) Training and developing subordinates; and
5) Evaluating their work performance and disciplining them when necessary.
OR
B. Professional experience which involved work such as:
1) Conducting studies and making recommendation for the development or revision of
standards, policies, procedures and techniques pertaining to program or activity;
2) Giving technical advice and direction;
3) Gathering data to determine conformance with standards and requirements;
4) Conducting special studies;
5) Recommending staff improvements and developing training materials.
