This recruitment will be used to establish a list of qualified applicants to fill the current vacancy and may be used to fill future vacancies as they occur.Independently repairs, maintains and/or installs sprinkler heads and pipes on the discharge side of the control valve in ground water systems which involves adjusting and/or repairing manual and electric automatic sprinkler systems; includes cleaning, servicing or replacing remote control valve parts and programming the watering schedule; and perform other related duties as assigned.To qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements:

Legal Authorization to Work Requirement:

The State of Hawaii requires all persons seeking employment with the government of the State shall be citizens, nationals, or permanent resident aliens of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States.


Experience: ONE (1) YEAR of work experience in repairing and/or installing ground water sprinkler systems which demonstrate that the applicant has:
1) Knowledge of: operating principles of manual and automatic control water sprinkler systems; basic principles of electricity as related to electric current continuity in electric automatic water sprinkler systems; tools, equipment and materials used in installing, servicing and repairing manual and electric automatic sprinkler systems; and safe work methods and procedures applicable in the repair, maintenance and installation of water sprinkler systems.
 
2) Ability to: diagnose and locate malfunctions; repair, maintain and install sprinkler systems including the remote control valves of electrical automatic sprinkler systems; use tools and equipment, including multimeters, in the repair and maintenance of sprinkler systems; prepare work reports; work from and interpret sketches and diagrams; and follow oral and written instructions.

Driver's License: Some positions require the possession of a valid driver's license at the time of appointment.  The immediate vacancies have this requirement.

Federal Criminal History Records Check: In accordance with Federal regulations, persons who are being considered for employment in positions which require unescorted access to secured areas at the airport, must undergo a pre-employment fingerprint-based criminal history record check. In order to be granted the Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) clearance, prospective employees must not have been convicted, or found "not guilty by reason of insanity," of a disqualifying criminal offense within 10 years from the date of the application. Upon recommendation for hire, prospective employees will be required to successfully undergo the fingerprint-based criminal history record check and be found free of disqualifying convictions during the preceding ten years. The cost for the records check will be the applicant's responsibility.
