Duties Summary
Exempt, non-civil service, full-time, permanent appointment. This position is in the Epidemiology and Information Services (EIS) section at the Kauai District Health Office (KDHO), Department of Health (DOH). The function of this organizational unit is to provide cross-cutting services to Kauai District Health Office programs. This unit supports Division-wide program planning, development, coordination, implementation, evaluation, and communication regarding division-wide initiatives and program-specific activities. The primary purpose of this position is to monitor and improve the health status of the Kauai community by conducting epidemiologic surveillance, assessments, and analyses related to community health in areas such as communicable diseases, chronic diseases, exposure to environmental hazards, health impacts of climate change, health equity, health impacts of disasters, and others as directed.
Minimum Qualification Requirements
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:Master’s degree in Epidemiology or Master’s Degree in Public Health or a health-related field for which the incumbent completed and passed at least three (3) epidemiological methods courses, one of which must be at an advanced level, and at least two (2) biostatistics courses requiring mastery of large dataset management and epidemiologic analyses using statistical software or tools. Each qualifying course should have fulfilled a minimum of two (2) credit hours. Additional coursework in data science, analytics, or informatics is preferred.
LICENSE: Possession of a valid State of Hawaii motor vehicle operator’s license is preferred.
