This recruitment is being conducted under the Operation Hire Hawaii (OH-HI) project, a targeted outreach initiative featuring an expedited hiring process, fast-tracking qualified applicants into job opportunities throughout Hawai’i.

Salary: $5,258 to $6,399 per month (SR-22, Step D to I)

Duties Summary

The Film Industry Development Specialist IV provides various assistance to producers filming in Hawaii; participates in promoting Hawaii as a production site for commercial filming; participates in studies associated with the development and promotion of the film industry in Hawaii; and performs other related duties as assigned.

This class reflects a fully competent worker participating in all phases of the statewide Hawaii film industry development program. This program is concerned with encouraging the motion picture and television industries to use Hawaii as a production site for feature films, television films/programs, and television commercials through promotional efforts and the provision of assistance in obtaining required clearances, services, etc. A position in this class assists producers in identifying appropriate facilities, personnel and services and obtaining necessary permits, licenses and clearances for the use of desired locations, equipment, etc., and in obtaining any other necessary assistance from private and public sources; assists foreign producers with visas and other immigration matters; coordinates motion picture and television production activities with State, County, Federal, and other non-governmental organizations; and participates in promoting the advantages of Hawaii's locations, talent and other resources. The work also includes conducting studies associated with the motion picture and television industries as they relate to the development and promotion of the film industry in Hawaii.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

To qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements:

Legal Authorization to Work:
The State of Hawaii requires all persons seeking employment with the government of the State shall be citizens, nationals, or permanent resident aliens of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States.

Basic Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university.

General Experience: One and one-half (1-1/2) years of progressively responsible professional experience in information research and dissemination, public relations work which required establishing and maintaining effective relations with public information and communication media, or work in marketing, advertising and business promotion.

Specialized Experience: One (1) year of responsible work experience which demonstrated the possession and application of knowledge of the film industry (motion picture and television), its economic characteristics and impact; marketing and advertising related to the film industry; film production personnel and their respective roles; governmental organizations impacting upon the film industry; filmmaking services such as sound stages, post-production facilities, etc.; and government permit procedures. The applicant must also have demonstrated the ability to conduct studies relating to the film industry.
