Salary: $4,155 per month (SR-16, Step D)
This recruitment will be used to establish a list of qualified candidates to fill the current vacancy positions and may be used to fill future vacancies as they occur.
Duties Summary
Planners are concerned wth providing legislative and top-level administrative policymakers with information and plans for the orderly and coordinated physical, environmental, social and/or economic development of Hawaii and/or of the services of the State government. Positions are involved with the development of information and rationale for decisions which affect the direction, rate and character of growth of the State and/or of services to the people of the State over a significant period of time.
The Planner I serves in a trainee capacity; participates in formal training course work and on-the-job assignments to develop understanding of principles, concepts, techniques, procedures, work processes and use of reference materials fundamental to public planning; and performs other related duties as assigned.
This class includes the performance of specific and limited reference and research assignments under immediate supervision. Assignments are performed in accordance with detailed instructions and subject to close review as part of a program of planned training.
Minimum Qualification Requirements
To qualify, you must meet all the following requirements:
Legal Authorization to Work:
Basic Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university.
Excess public planning professional work experience or any other progressively responsible administrative, professional or other analytical work experience which provided knowledge, skills and abilities comparable to those acquired in four (4) years of successful study while completing a college or university curriculum leading to a baccalaureate degree may be substituted for the required Education on a year-for-year basis.
The education or experience background must also demonstrate the ability to write clear and comprehensive reports and other documents; read and interpret complex written material; and solve complex problems logically and systematically.
Special Requirement for the current vacancies with the Department of Transportation, Airports Division:
Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) Clearance - Federal Criminal History Records Check: In accordance with Federal regulations, persons who are being considered for employment in positions which require unescorted access to secured areas at the airport must undergo a pre-employment fingerprint-based criminal history record check. In order to be granted the SIDA clearance, prospective employees must not have been convicted, or found "not guilty by reason of insanity," of a disqualifying criminal offense within ten years from the date of the application. Upon recommendation for hire, prospective employees will be required to successfully undergo the fingerprint-based criminal history record check and be found free of disqualifying convictions during the preceding ten years. The cost for the records check will be the applicant's responsibility.
Driver's License: Some positions require a valid driver's license at the time of appointment.
