Duties Summary
Purpose of the position :
This position assists in providing leadership and guidance to staff in the Recovery and Resilience Unit C, which coordinates plans and recovery efforts related to the County wildfires that occurred in August 2023. This position supports the statewide coordination, development and policy initiatives related to State of Hawaii wildfire recovery.
Minimum Qualification Requirements
RECOMMENDED MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
A. Knowledge : Knowledge of principles and practices of public administration and organizational management; knowledge of principles, practices, methods and techniques of effective supervision and human resource management; aware of general research principle, methods, and techniques; general knowledge of state departmental rules, regulations, guidelines, policies, and procedures; aware of union contract agreements for professional level employees; general understanding and awareness of the state legislative and budget process.
B. Skills / Abilities : Skills and abilities to work with confidential matters in a fast-paced and deadline oriented environment; maintain business practices, communications and organizational skills; read and interpret various written materials such as federal and State laws; write in a clear, concise, and comprehensive manner; able to analyze and resolve complex issues and concerns; express oneself orally in a clear and persuasive manner; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with public sector, private sector and legislative entities; work independently with a high level of professionalism; effectively oversee and guide various initiatives and efforts; convene and direct various stakeholder groups to work collaboratively in successfully addressing various complex issues and initiatives.
C. Education : A bachelor’s degree or higher. Possession of a degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Political Science, or Social Science fields is preferred.
D. Experience : Four (4) years of progressively responsible professional work experience which demonstrated the ability to deal effectively with fellow workers, business contacts and / or the public, and to recognize, analyze and resolve management and operational problems.
