Salary: Salary Depends on Experience (DOE); Starting at $90,000 to DOE.

Location: Boise, Idaho. As Idaho’s capital, Boise is a growing city and offers a rich variety of both cultural and recreational opportunities. Idaho’s world-famous fly-fishing, skiing, kayaking and hiking are all within easy access.

Primary Duties: The successful applicant will serve as 1 of 4 Deputy Attorneys General assigned as in-house counsel to the Idaho Public Utilities Commission. Duties include representing Commission Staff in utility rate cases and other litigated administrative proceedings, preparing pleadings, discovery, and settlement documents, and otherwise coordinating the presentation of Commission Staff’s case. Deputies also prepare post-hearing decision memoranda, and opinions, orders, and notices for the Commission. Other duties may include reviewing and drafting contracts, rules, policies; advising on employment matters, public records law, and open meeting law issues; and advising on other legal issues arising at the Commission.

Minimum Qualifications: Active Idaho State Bar license. Strong writing and editing skills. Ability to work independently and to work well with others (including with engineers, accountants, utility analysts, economists, and opposing counsel). Knowledge of utility regulation can be acquired on-the-job.

Preferred Qualifications: Familiarity with government practice, administrative law, appellate court practices, economics, finance, accounting, and antitrust are beneficial.
