The position requires an individual who has a strong desire to pursue a career in civil engineering and should be enrolled in a civil engineering undergraduate or master's level degree program.
The Idaho Transportation Department is hiring an Engineering Intern for our Materials Group, located in District 6, Rigby, Idaho. Our Engineering staff reviews civil designs, scopes engineering work, reviews construction plans and specifications, and provides consultation for our in-field inspectors. The successful candidate would play a critical role, working directly with our Staff Engineer to facilitate these job duties and serve our construction office and the citizens of Idaho. This opportunity provides interns with practical real-world experience and exposure to a variety of engineering disciplines.

Example of Duties
- Assists Staff Engineer in the review of civil designs, drainage calculations,
- Assists Staff Engineer in the scoping of engineering work, identifying road design alternatives, and construction contract administration.
- Assists Staff Engineer in the review of Plans, Specifications, and Estimate (PS&E).
- Assists Staff Engineer in the Construction Contract Administration.
- Communicates verbally and in writing with supervisors and coworkers, County and outside agency representatives, contractors, and consulting firms.
- Work with a team and receive mentorship for career development
- Pursuing a Bachelors or Master's degree in Civil Engineering
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Ability to analyze information, make decisions, and meet deadlines
- Documentation, planning, and organizational skills
