This position is based and works in our Boise office.

Typical Duties
- Leads, manages, and supervises professional staff working in solid waste, onsite sewage disposal and small public water systems;
- Manages land development approval processes;
- Develops and manages related contracts and budgets;
- Provide consultative services to developers, engineers and the public on onsite sewage disposal and land development projects;
- Provides subject matter expert technical expertise to staff, public, and partner agencies;
- Interprets and enforces land-based rules and regulations;
- Integrates into public health emergency response teams, including occasionally carrying the health district's on-call phone;
- Advises and makes recommendations about environmental concerns and compliance with relevant rules and regulations.
Good knowledge of:
- Management practices;
- Public health principles and practices.
- Developing and monitoring a budget;
- Developing and implementing public health operating policies and procedures;
- Interpreting and applying federal and state public health laws;
- Collecting and organizing public health data and developing technical reports;
- Analyzing public health program issues and making recommendations;
- The incumbent must be a Registered Environmental Health Specialist/Registered Sanitarian (REHS/RS) with the National Environmental Health Association (NEHA). This includes possession of a Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Environmental Health or possession of a Bachelor's Degree with 30 semester hours (45 quarter hours) in basic science coursework and at least two years of public health experience with an agency to include inspecting facilities and enforcing ordinances, rules, and statutes.
