Summary:

The Mission of the Idaho Department of Correction (IDOC) is to create a model correctional system that provides equitable access to programming and opportunities that reflect a community experience, foster connections, and restore victims of crime. Clinicians with the Idaho Department of Correction work inside correctional institutions/prisons and Probation and Parole District Offices around the state. These positions perform assessments, program assignments, and treatment referrals for residents convicted of a felony. This announcement will be used for the Idaho Correctional Institution - Orofino in Orofino, ID.

Responsibilities:

  • Apply clinical skills to assess resident mental health needs; develop and implements a treatment plan and therapeutic recommendations
  • Prepares findings, diagnostic impressions, diagnosis, and recommendations for Idaho Parole Board as directed/needed
  • May select, score, administer, and interpret psychological tests
  • Assess overall physical and mental health residents for expressing suicidal ideation
  • Designs, implements, and directs multifaceted clinical therapies and rehabilitation programs
  • Evaluates treatment effectiveness and outcomes
  • Provides emergency, crisis intervention, and after-hour on-call services
  • Advocates for IDOC residents mental health needs
  • Presents assessment results to multidisciplinary team; participates in treatment planning.
  • Designs and implements training as directed by supervisor and/or identified needs of IDOC residents and staff
  • Coordinates program with other service providers within IDOC
  • Facilitates psychoeducational and process groups to IDOC residents
  • May participate in research projects
  • Other duties as assigned by facility clinical supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A master's degree (or higher) in a direct clinical practice Human Services field is required for this position. (Master's degree in social work, psychology, marriage and family counseling, marriage and family therapy, psychosocial rehabilitation counseling, psychiatric nursing, or very closely related field of study.)
  • Willing to work in a correctional facility and may include working non-traditional hours during evenings and or weekends.

Specialty Qualifications:

  • Must possess a current Idaho license as a Licensed Master's Social Worker, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Professional Counselor or Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor or be eligible within 90 days from the date of hire.
