Idaho State Police -Public Information Officer
Example Of Duties
- Oversee and enhance ISP’s social media presence by managing content calendars and driving audience growth across platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn YouTube, and Twitter
- Maintain public relations standards, goals, priorities, and operational plans, policies, and procedures of the Idaho State Police (ISP)
- Manage internal and external communication channels to include the design and content development of ISP’s internet, agency materials, and branding guidelines
- Create photography and videography content that captures ISP personnel to enhance the agencies perception and promote recruitment
- Advise Command and Executive Staff members on public information, crisis management, community relations strategies, and media presentations
- Develop communications strategies to address critical issues, public education campaigns, safety standards, and traffic incidents
- Manage news media interests through News Releases, press conferences, briefings, interviews, media appearances, correspondence, reports, and professional relationships
- Write and edit material for distribution to the public and new organizations
- Serve as a media spokesperson for ISP. Arrange and advise Uniformed and Professional Staff for on- camera media appearances
- Handle crisis communications involving unforeseen circumstances requiring research, writing, editing, and public speaking
- Create brochures, publications, correspondence, and materials with accuracy, clarity, and in compliance with ISP standards and policies
- Positively represent ISP in interagency efforts and public-private partnerships requiring public information and education
- Other duties as assigned
Familiarity with:
- media relations and public information sharing, preferably in a law enforcement or government setting
- drafting press releases, speeches, and public statements, as well as coordinating media interviews and press conferences
- digital media content with a strong emphasis in managing social media platforms
- crisis communication strategies and best practices
- audiovisual production, to include proficiency in video production, still photography, graphic design, and creation of digital assets
- developing and making oral presentations to groups
- Advanced knowledge and use of social media strategies and techniques
- Proficiency in multimedia content creation, including photography, videography, and graphic design for digital platforms
- Creation, editing, and producing high-quality informational materials for mass distribution and specialized audiences, utilizing electronic word processing and digital tools
- Delivering timely and effective communication to specialized audiences in high-pressure, fast-paced environments, including during emergencies or critical incidents
- Performing and tracking multiple projects simultaneously, demonstrating strong organizational and project management skills to meet tight deadlines and shifting priorities.
