This position serves as the Application Architect supporting the Illinois Department of Human Services (DHS) performing highly technical and analytical functions for Eligibility Systems.  In this position, you will provide leadership for the development and maintenance of applications supported by the IES application system and batch interface / online inquiry teams.  The Application Archietect will develop and maintain all complex data processing assignments.  In addition, you will directly interact with analysts and users to provide assistance and training.  This position serves as team leader, providing advice and guidance to lower level staff requiring advanced technical research and analysis. Essential Functions

  • Under administrative direction, serves as the Application Architect for the Department of Innovation & Technology (DoIT) supporting the Illinois Department of Human Services (IDHS) performing highly complex professional advisory functions in application development and providing architectural leadership and guidance to highly technical professional staff working as JAVA developers including Elixir, Corticon and other server based applications.
  • Reviews and analyzes the functional requirements of applications and compares them to user needs and requests for modifications.
  • Serves as team leader on highly complex projects while independently planning, developing, and implementing techniques for gathering and interpreting data.
  • Reviews and participates in the system testing, pilot runs, and production parallel system operations.
  • Keeps abreast of new developments in the Information Technology field by continuing education through meetings, training sessions, seminars, and conferences to increase familiarity with and remain current on products, vendors, techniques, and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
  • Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to four (4) years of college with course work in computer science or directly related fields.
  • Requires five (5) years of professional experience in Application services or a related Information Technology field.
  • Specialized Skills

  • Requires five (5) years of professional providing Architectual leadership and guidance to highly technical professional staff working as JAVA developers including Elixir, Corticon and other server based applications.
  • Requires five (5) years of experience with business process analysis, design, modeling, reengineering and process visualization or similar experience.
  • Requires five (5) years professional experience leading teams or projects while independently planning, developing, and implementing techniques for gathering and interpreting data.
  • Requires three (3) years of professional experience preparing testing plans, test scripts, and test data for new or modified programs and systems.
  • Preferred Qualifications (In Order if Significance)

  • Five (5) years of professional providing Architectual leadership and guidance to highly technical professional staff working as JAVA developers including Elixir, Corticon and other server based applications.
  • Five (5) years of experience with business process analysis, design, modeling, reengineering and process visualization or similar experience.
  • Five (5) years professional experience leading teams or projects while independently planning, developing, and implementing techniques for gathering and interpreting data.
  • Three (3) years of professional experience preparing testing plans, test scripts, and test data for new or modified programs and systems.
  • One (1) year of experience with requirement gathering and / or requirement management Ability to facilitate a shared understanding of the problem, possible solutions, and determine the scope of a project.
  • Ability to translate business use cases, into functional and technical requirements.
  • Ability to create IT technical documents such as user stories, use cases, and / or program specifications.
