Our top-tier benefits and great retirement packages can help you build a rewarding career and lasting future with the State of Illinois.Essential FunctionsPlans, supervises, reviews, and coordinates the activities of a centralized Consent Team, consisting of professional caseworkers who serve as guardianship liaisons, providing informed consents to medical, social service, and other providers on behalf of children in DCFS custody and guardianship.Communicates, explains, and clarifies interpretations of agency policies, procedures, state and area statutes, and requirements for Consent Team staff, DCFS field staff, child welfare contributing agency (CWCA) staff, supervisors, and administrators concerning issues related to consent-giving functions, as well as other appropriate Departmental functions.Serves as full line supervisor.Maintains responsibility for the completion of the daily psychiatric hospital admissions report to the Director’s Office, as well as the monitoring and tracking component of the Psychiatric Hospital Project.Coordinates with the Child Intake and Recovery Unit (CIRU) requests for 24-hour emergency consents regarding the medical needs of DCFS youth in care.Establishes and implements a team-based program of staff development and training for subordinate staff; monitors to ensure staff attend Department sponsored training sessions.Serves as program monitor for statewide Consent Unit assigned contracts, such as those for the review of psychotropic medications or for the review of recommended major medical treatment for youth by pediatric consultants.Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.Minimum QualificationsRequires a master’s degree in social work or a related human services field.Requires three (3) years of administrative child welfare experience with an MSW OR four (4) years of administrative child welfare experience with a master’s degree in a related human services field.Preferred QualificationsPrefers three (3) years of supervisory experience leading a team of professional staff.Prefers three (3) years of professional experience evaluating program and personnel performance in a public or business organization.Prefers three (3) years of professional experience making professional decisions in a high-pressure environment in a public or business organization.Prefers three (3) years of professional experience conducting quality review in a public or business organization.Prefers three (3) years of professional experience conducting staff training in public or business organization.Conditions of EmploymentRequires ability to pass a background check.Requires ability to travel in the performance of duties.
