Position Overview :
The Department of Juvenile Justice is seeking a detailed oriented professional to help manage its warehouse and logistics operations. These operations will be within the boundaries of the Youth Center and help provide oversight on the accurate recording of inventory items, distribution of materials, and providing ad hoc reports as requested. The Department of Juvenile Justice strongly encourages all qualified candidates to apply.
Essential Functions :
- Supervises staff, assigns and reviews work, and provides guidance and training to assigned staff.
- Monitors the receiving of merchandise and preparation of reports, issuance of items upon proper authorization, and perpetual inventory systems.
- Coordinates and assists department heads in preparation of requisitions for annual and quarterly stock needs.
- Estimates needs and orders on quarterly, semi-annual, and annual special basis.
- Monitors complex daily record systems involving receiving tickets, store requisitions from operating unit, posting ledgers, inventory control record cards, shipping orders, and reports to the Business Office.
- Verifies the proper packaging and shipping tickets being shipped or sent out for shipping activity.
- Monitors the safety of the facility relating to performance of assigned duties.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Over 900 staff members from across various departments—security, programming, education, mental health, and more—collaborate with the understanding that youth are physically, emotionally, and cognitively different from adults. The department provides extensive services to young people through a developmental, treatment-focused model of care that builds youth resiliency, engages families, and promotes community safety at the five youth facilities it operates across the state. IDJJ serves and houses approximately 150 youth and is responsible for approximately 500 youth on Aftercare in various Illinois’ communities.
