Job Summary: The Illinois Governor’s Mansion is seeking a highly meticulous and detail-oriented housekeeper to maintain the cleanliness and order of this historic residence. The ideal candidate will have experience in residential cleaning and a keen eye for detail. This position is contractual and would work on an as-needed basis, with flexible scheduling based on the needs of the household.
Key Responsibilities:
- Thoroughly dusts all surfaces, including furniture, shelves, baseboards, chandeliers, and other areas to ensure the home remains in perfect presentation quality at all times.
- Cleans and sanitizes all bathrooms, including sinks, countertops, mirrors, tubs, showers, and toilets. Ensures all fixtures are cleaned and properly maintained.
- Vacuums carpets and floors throughout the mansion, ensuring all areas are free from dust, dirt, and debris.
- Changes bed linens and towels throughout the home, ensuring they are fresh and neatly arranged. Diligent care of all clothing, perform regular laundry, ironing, and closet organization.[SK1] [Office2]
- Ensures all areas including outdoor entrances to the building is maintained, cleaned, and organized according to ADA requirements.
- Collects and properly disposes of trash and recycling items.
- Has strong communication skills and the ability to follow instructions accurately.
- Assists with setup, breakdown, and cleaning for entertaining or events including table setting and beverage station setup.
- Maintains the cleanliness and organization of various rooms, including living areas, bedrooms, foyers, kitchens, parlors, offices, hallways, etc.
- Assists with additional cleaning tasks as needed, based on the requirements of the household.
- Consistently maintains a professional demeanor and presence.
- Demonstrates the ability to protect privacy and maintain discretion in dealing with highly confidential information.
Qualifications:
- Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of high school.
- At least one to two (1-2) years of housekeeping experience required; three to five (3-5) years of housekeeping experience preferred.
- At least two (2) years of fine dining or catering experience preferred
- Proven experience in residential cleaning
- Experience with antiques, preferred
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and follow specific instructions
- Flexible and reliable, with the ability to adapt to varying schedules
Conditions of Employment:
- Requires possession of a valid driver’s license and required auto insurance.
- Requires the ability to pass a background check.
- Requires the ability to occasionally ascend/descend a ladder.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, such as bending, kneeling, and lifting (up to 40 lbs).
- Comfortable working in a variety of environments and conditions.
- Contractors are not eligible for fringe benefits except where required by law.
