The Illinois Workers' Compensation Commission is looking for a dynamic individual to fill the position of Human Resources Associate.


Position Overview:

Under the general direction of the Director of Human Resources and Labor Relations of the Illinois Workers’ Compensation Commission, incumbent independently performs specialized paraprofessional Human Resources functions in the maintenance and supervision of the Workmen’s Compensation Commission, incumbent independently performs specialized paraprofessional Human Resources functions in the maintenance and supervision of the Workmen’s Compensation Human Resources and Labor Relations department for areas that could include transactions, group insurance, compensation, statistical reports, and timekeeping.

Essential Functions

  • Under general direction performs a variety of complex, confidential and specialized paraprofessional human resource duties for the Human Resources Division.
  • Assists in the maintenance and preparation of weekly, quarterly, and annual reports
    surrounding employee data
  • Assists the department head in all Human Resources related matters.
    Gain expertise in State of Illinois Personnel Code, Comprehensive Employment Plan and
    Bargaining Unit contracts.
  • Maintains agency timekeeping records.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of two years of college or satisfactory completion of an approved training program.
  • Requires the ability to keyboard accurately at 30 wpm.

About the Agency:

Workers' compensation is a no-fault system of benefits paid by employers to workers who experience work-related injuries or diseases. The Illinois Workers' Compensation Commission resolves disputes between employees and employers regarding work-related injuries and illnesses. A case is first tried by an arbitrator, whose decision may be reviewed by a panel of three commissioners. Cases may then be appealed to the circuit court, Appellate Court, and Illinois Supreme Court. Like most court systems, the vast majority of disputes are resolved by settlement.
