Position Overview
The Office of Inspector General is seeking to hire a self-motivated, knowledgeable, ambitious, detail-oriented administrator to supervise and serve as Investigative Team Leader for the Bureau of Investigations in the Chicago Metro Region. This position serves as first level reviewer and evaluator of written investigative reports, findings, presentations of evidence and recommendations for corrective actions and/or case closure. Travels to conduct confidential, sensitive, and complex investigations. Reviews, revises, and implements management procedures for the gathering and compiling of relevant data and facts concerning prosecution materials and reports. Reviews and revises such reports. Maintains confidential files pertaining to cases under investigation and responsible for ensuring the security of all pertinent information.
Job Responsibilities
- Serves as Investigative Team Leader for the Chicago Metro Region.
- Serves as full-line supervisor.
- Reviews, revises, and implements management procedures for the gathering and compiling of relevant data and facts concerning the full range of allegations being assessed by subordinate investigative and social service staff.
- Prepares criminal and civil proceeding materials reports.
- Maintains confidential files pertaining to cases under investigation and responsible for verifying the security of all pertinent information gathered in the investigatory process.
- Assists the Training Coordinator in providing training programs and technical assistance to the Office of Inspector General (OIG), community agencies, state operated facilities, network managers and Department of Human Services (DHS) personnel.
- Performs other duties as assigned or required which are reasonably within the scope of those enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college, preferably with courses in law enforcement.
- Requires prior experience equivalent to three (3) years of progressively responsible administrative experience in law enforcement or investigative program.
Preferred Qualifications
- Three (3) years of professional experience writing complex investigative reports.
- Three (3) years of professional experience investigating allegations of abuse/neglect and/or malfeasance/misfeasance for a public or private organization.
- Two (2) years of professional experience reviewing and editing investigative reports of subordinates.
- Two (2) years of professional supervisory experience assigning work, providing guidance to subordinates, recommending counseling and/or discipline following collective bargaining agreements, training staff, approving time off and preparing and signing performance evaluations.
- Two (2) years of professional experience in a public or private organization maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive information with professionalism.
- Two (2) years of professional experience attending criminal, civil or administrative proceedings and providing expert witness testimony for investigative results and/or assessments.
