Position Overview

The Division of Developmental Disabilities is seeking to hire a Maintenance Worker for the Ludeman Developmental Center located in Park Forest, Illinois to perform a variety of manual semi-skilled work in the maintenance and upkeep of Ludeman Developmental Center buildings, campus, and equipment. Operates facility equipment, building and mechanical systems, such as lawn tractors, power mowers, snowplows, and other maintenance vehicles. Removes and disposes of leaves and trash. Moves furniture and other items within the Ludeman Developmental Center. Removes snow and ice from sidewalks.

Essential Functions

  • Performs a variety of manual semi-skilled work in the maintenance and upkeep of the Ludeman Developmental Center buildings, campus, and equipment.
  • Operates lawn tractors, power mowers, snowplows, and other maintenance vehicles.
  • Removes and disposes of leaves and trash from Ludeman Developmental Center campus.
  • Moves furniture and other items within Ludeman Developmental Center.
  • Removes snow and ice from sidewalks, shovels snow and spreads salt, etc.
  • Paints windowsills, ceilings, floors.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires no formal education.
  • Requires six months experience performing a variety of semiskilled manual task in the maintenance of highways, building, grounds, waterways, or related fields.

Conditions of Employment

  • Requires the ability to utilize office equipment, including personal computers.
  • Requires ability to work after business hours, weekends, and holidays.
  • Requires ability to travel in the performance of job duties.
  • Requires ability to pass the IDHS background check.
  • Requires ability to pass a drug screen for drugs prohibited from recreational use under Illinois Law.
  • All conditions of employment listed are incorporated and related to any of the job duties as listed in the job description.

Work Hours: 7:00am-3:00pm; Monday-Friday; 30-minute paid lunch
