Position Overview
The Department of Military Affairs is looking to hire a Military Community Relations Specialist located in Springfield, IL. This position is under direct supervision of the Director of Public Affairs, responsible for the supervision and coordination of the information program activities of the Department of Military Affairs and the Illinois National Guard. The Department of Military Affairs works with the members of the Illinois Air and Army National Guard. We welcome all interested applicants to apply.
Essential Functions
- Acts as Project Manager for community relations activities of Illinois National Guard units.
- Prepares material for the internal information program designed to inform and motivate the Illinois National Guard to perform to the most of their capability.
- Prepares and distributes information concerning the Illinois National Guard and its activities through news articles, feature stories, radio and television interviews, and briefing and presentations.
- Conducts research support applicable to ILNG PA policies, regulations and products, gathering information and coordinating with other directorates and agencies.
- Provides technical assistance related to office automation, record-keeping, JFHQ-PA surveys, office inventory and supplies, and office support methodologies.
- Coordinates and provides photographic support for events and activities of the Illinois National Guard.
- Serves as the Acting Public Affairs Director in the absence of the Director and Deputy Director of Public Affairs.
