The Northern Clinical Pharmacy Manager will be responsible for abiding by the Illinois Pharmacy Practice Act, the Illinois and Federal Controlled Substance Act, ensuring accreditation readiness, assisting with nonformulary and exemption requests, monitoring polypharmacy, assisting with the antimicrobial stewardship programs, evaluating the quality assurance and enhancement activities, serves on the State Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee, the Infection Control Committee, the facility Medical Staff Committee meetings, and other facility / De partment of Human Services (D HS) committees.Essential FunctionsAs Northern Clinical pharmacy manager, plans, develops, and implements clinical functions in the Northern Region for the northern hospitals.Serves as a clinical liaison between the pharmacies and the treatment teams.Reviews and evaluates all Northern Pharmacies' monthly clinical management reports, assists Pharmacy Service Managers in monitoring polypharmacy cases, and manages non-formulary and exemption requests for the Northern facilities.Serves as a working supervisor.Organizes all clinical training for the Northern Hospitals to verify passage of reviews conducted by accreditation organizations and organizes educational in-services for professional staff.Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.Minimum QualificationsRequires sufficient combination of classroom instruction and supervised clinical practicum to graduate from a first professional degree program in pharmacy at a college or university accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE).Requires current license as a registered pharmacist in the State of Illinois.Requires two (2) years of supervisory experience as a registered practicing pharmacist of a pharmacy operation or a closely related practice.Preferred QualificationsSpecialty in Psychiatric Medicine (BCPP) or Specialty in Pharmacotherapy (BCPS).One (1) year of professional experience working as a pharmacist for a private or public organization.One (1) year of professional experience dispensing pharmaceutical preparations and supplies for individuals.Three (3) years of professional experience directing a pharmacy program for a public or private organization.Three (3) years of professional experience supervising staff in the pharmaceutical field.Three (3) years of professional experience evaluating the quality assurance and enhancement activities associated with the provision of pharmacy services for a public or private organization, including reviewing individuals’ charts / records for adverse drug reaction, drug side effects and drug interaction.Three (3) years of professional experience implementing and recommending policies and procedures for a pharmacy program.Conditions of EmploymentRequires the ability to prepare complex prescriptions.Requires ability to direct and supervise the preparation of and complex prescriptions.Requires the ability to maintain licensure in good standing as a registered pharmacist in the State of Illinois.Requires the ability to travel in the performance of duties, with overnight stays as appropriate.Certain provisions of the revolving door restrictions contained in 5 ILCS 430 / 5-45 apply to this position.
