Position Overview

This position serves as a PKI Support Desk Specialist performing complex technical and advisory functions relative to the PKI within the framework of established policies and procedures. In this role, you will be a key team member responsible for assisting DoIT customers with acquiring and using Digital IDs, digitally signing documents, digital file encryption, and using digital encryption in secure communications with other users of State of Illinois IT resources. In addition, you will assist with installing the PKI applications necessary to operate within the State of Illinois PKI infrastructure. Essential Functions

Under general direction, serves as a Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) Support Desk Specialist for the Department of Innovation & Technology (DoIT), performing complex technical and advisory functions relative to the Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) within the framework of established policies and procedures for DoIT.

Performs administration setup, configuration, and deployment of agency accounts including but not limited to Web3270, LDAP, and Security Management Administration applications.

Performs complex integration of digital certificate technology with electronic forms by providing digital signatures and encryption capabilities, including but not limited to assisting customers with specific PKI problems, generating digital certificates for in state and out-of state clients, and generating SSL certificates.

Keeps abreast of new developments in the Information Technology (IT) field by continuing education by attending meetings, training sessions, seminars, and conferences to increase familiarity with and maintain current on IT products, vendors, techniques, and procedures.

Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college with course work in computer science or directly related fields.

Requires one (1) year of professional experience in System Services or a related Information Technology field.

Specialized Skills

Requires one (1) year of professional experience with implementation, installation, and configuration of various PKI software components.

Requires one (1) year of professional experience in LAN operating environments.

Requires one (1) year of professional experience with PKI infrastructure including digital signatures and encryption capabilities.

Preferred Qualifications

One (1) year of professional experience with implementation, installation, and configuration of various PKI software components

One (1) year of professional experience in LAN operating environments

One (1) year of professional experience with PKI infrastructure including digital signatures and encryption capabilities.

One (1) year of professional experience developing SSL certificates for clients.

One (1) year of professional experience utilizing the Entrust Desktop App, Outlook plug-ins, LDAP software, and complex directory management software.

Extensive knowledge of Adobe Acrobat forms

Ability to analyze data logically and exercise sound judgment in defining and evaluating problems of an operational or procedural nature

Developed verbal and written communication skills to present technical information to others with clarity and precision.

Ability to gain and maintain effective working relationships with associates, vendors, clients, and others.
