Position Overview

The Division of Developmental Disabilities is seeking to hire a Storekeeper I for the Fox Developmental Center located in Dwight, Illinois to prepare requisitions for stock replacement, emergency purchases, and authorization purchases utilizing the state’s computerized computer system. Checks quality and quantity of commodities, supplies, and equipment received to verify they conform to purchase specifications. Prepares and monitors the maintenance of balance and location records. Maintains inventory control. Participates in semi-annual inventory of land, buildings, equipment, and any other assets under the property control program.

Essential Functions

  • Prepares requisitions for stock replacement, emergency purchases, and authorization purchases utilizing the state’s computerized computer system.

  • Checks quality and quantity of commodities, supplies and equipment received to verify they conform to purchase specifications, corresponds with suppliers concerning overages, shortages, damages, or incorrect merchandise received. Prepares receiving reports.

  • Prepares and monitors the maintenance of balance and location records.

  • Monitors inventory levels paper, print products, and office supplies.

  • Participates in the semi-annual inventory of land, buildings, equipment, and any other assets under the property control program as well as the preparation of all reports regarding facility assets recorded on property control.

  • Develops efficient stores methods for allocation of storage assignment on receipt of goods.

  • Arranges transportation for items to be shipped including preparation of shipping documents, packing, or wrapping of goods and operation of materials handling equipment such as scales and calculators.

  • Performs other duties as assigned or required which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years high school.

  • Requires one (1) year experience in the keeping of stores and stores records.

Conditions of Employment

  • Requires the ability to work after business hours, weekends, and holidays.

  • Requires the ability to utilize office equipment, including personal computers.

  • Requires the ability to perform arduous labor.

  • Requires the ability to travel in the performance of job duties.

  • Requires ability to pass the IDHS background check.

  • Requires ability to pass a drug screen for drugs prohibited from recreational use under Illinois Law.
