Position Overview
The Division of Developmental Disabilities is seeking to hire a Support Service Worker for the Fox Developmental Center located in Dwight, Illinois to perform a variety of manual activities involved in the maintenance of grounds. Operates and performs simple maintenance of standard equipment and machinery, completes various housekeeping duties. Completes simple clerical records pertaining to activities performed. Works in other support service areas as needed. Aids craftsmen in the performance of their duties by carrying materials and equipment. Travels within and outside of the facility in the performance of duties.
Essential Functions
- Performs a variety of routine manual activities involved in the maintenance of grounds at the Center.
- Cleans and maintains window wells, service tunnels, sidewalks, stairs, and wheelchair accessible ramps.
- Operates and performs simple maintenance of standard equipment and machinery, including hand and power tools, equipment washing and minor maintenance of automotive equipment.
- Assists in moving equipment and supplies from one location to another at the facility.
- Works in other support service areas as needed.
- Completes simple clerical records pertaining to activities performed.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of High School supplemented by six (6) months experience in the support service functional area to which assigned.
Conditions of Employment
Requires the ability to work after business hours, weekends, and holidays.
Requires the ability to utilize office equipment, including personal computers.
Requires ability to travel in the performance of duties, with overnight stays as appropriate.
Requires the ability to perform heavy physical work.
Requires ability to pass the IDHS background check.
Requires ability to pass a drug screen for drugs prohibited from recreational use under Illinois Law.
