As an Accounting Technician 3, you will be independently responsible for processing multiple accounting functions for an entire District including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, billings, while ensuring accounts are balanced and accurate. This position will also oversee all Fiduciary accounts in the four residential facilities in the district by balancing to the banks and maintaining a General Ledger.
Your Accounts Payable responsibilities will encompass receiving and verifying all invoices and documentation is complete by working with vendors and staff to ensure proper documentation is received before processing invoices into Iowa Advantage and ensuring payment is made by the due date. This position will also be responsible for approving expense claims in Workday for payment and assisting staff in correcting any errors to ensure state policy is being followed.
The Accounts Receivable responsibilities include ensuring outer office deposits balance with bank deposit slips and the Offender Fee Database, along with properly coding revenue into Iowa Advantage. Balancing the revenues to offender fees and general ledger will occur monthly as well to ensure all revenues have been accounted for and recorded accurately.
Fiduciary balancing will be completed monthly for all four facilities (8 bank accounts) to verify accuracy, and this incumbent will assist staff in correcting errors.

Minimum Qualification Requirements
Graduation from high school or G.E.D equivalency and experience equal to five years of accounting work involving compilation, tabulation, examination, verification or recording of financial, statistical or related fiscal program data using elementary bookkeeping principles and practices;
OR
completion of a post-high school accounting curriculum from an accredited vocational, technical, business or community college, with at least twenty semester hours of accounting coursework;
OR
an equivalent combination of education and experience, substituting one year of clerical office work for each year of the required education;
OR
an equivalent combination of education and experience, substituting thirty semester hours of accredited post high school education in Business, Accounting or a closely related curriculum for each year of the required experience;
OR
employees with current continuous service in the state executive branch that includes experience equal to one year of full-time work as an Accounting Technician 2.
