The Iowa Department of Management (DOM), Division of Data, Planning, and Improvement is seeking Data Analyst Interns for Summer 2025 (late May through early September) to work on data projects within the Executive Branch of the State of Iowa. Projects will focus on developing reports and dashboards that provide accurate, timely, and actionable information to agency leadership, and present critical information to the citizens of Iowa.
Key Responsibilities
The hourly rate for this internship will be between $19.00 and $24.00 per hour.

reside in the state of Iowa at the time of starting the role.

Key Responsibilities
- Implementing data exploration and cleaning processes to ensure the quality and reliability of datasets, addressing any inconsistencies or missing information.
- Conducting analyses to extract meaningful insights from datasets.
- Creating insightful and compelling reports and dashboards.
- Documenting methodologies, data sources, and code to promote reproducibility and knowledge transfer.
- Major in business or data analytics, data science, mathematics, finance, economics, statistics, computer science, or similar.
- Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA.
- Minimum of 90 credit hours of undergraduate coursework completed. - upload of unofficial transcript required for further consideration.
- Registered for classes in Fall 2025 semester (verified at the time of offer)
- Understanding of data analysis and visualization concepts.
- Strong problem-solving skills to creatively address data challenges.
- Attention to detail to ensure accuracy and precision in analyses.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Experience designing visualizations, reports and dashboards in business intelligence platforms such as Google Looker.
- Understanding of spreadsheet formula syntax.
- Working knowledge of SQL.
