Your Responsibilities
As an Education Program Consultant for Specially Designed Instruction in Math, you will serve as a leader providing technical assistance and guidance on the following:
- Lead the statewide scaling and implementation of evidence-based practices for the delivery of specially designed instruction for students with needs in the area of mathematics. This includes participation in existing statewide collaborative implementation and scaling structures, including:
- facilitation of or membership on statewide development and delivery teams;
- providing technical assistance focusing on evaluation for instructional design; designing instruction and delivering instruction and other supports;
- using implementation science to support scaling and implementation efforts.
- integrating SDI Math professional learning and supports into IDEA-Differentiated Accountability.
- Collaborate with other education program consultants and administrative consultants across the division to promote and improve integration of high-quality, evidence-based SDI and Multi-tiered System of Supports (MTSS) into guidance, support and technical assistance provided by the Department.
- Work collaboratively with external partners and infrastructure components of the Statewide Special Education Leadership Network (e.g., Procedures Governance Council and ACHIEVE Governance Council).

Minimum Qualification Requirements
Applicants must meet at least one of the following minimum requirements to qualify for positions in this job classification:
- Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university and five years of full-time post-graduate work experience in any one or a combination of the following areas:
- Professional training, teaching, or counseling experience in an educational setting;
- Professional administrative experience in an educational setting;
- Professional personnel administration including such areas as job analysis, performance appraisal systems, selection devices, or labor relations;
- Professional finance, accounting, or auditing experience including the preparation or analysis of financial statements;
- Professional experience in a major technical program area utilized by the Iowa Department of Education or Board of Educational Examiners.
- A combination of a total of five years of post-graduate education and full-time experience (as described in number one), where twenty-four semester hours of accredited post-graduate college or university course work equals one year of full-time experience.
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master’s degree, possession of a valid Iowa Teaching Certificate, and three academic years of teaching and/or administrative experience in PK-12 and/or a post-secondary educational institution.
- Possession of a School Business Official Authorization from the Iowa Board of Educational Examiners and seven years of full-time professional experience in finance, accounting, or auditing, including the preparation or analysis of financial statements.
