Job Description
The Governor’s Empower Rural Iowa initiative at the Iowa Economic Development Authority (IEDA) is seeking a motivated professional to join our team as our Director of Empower Rural Iowa.
The Governor’s Empower Rural Iowa initiative, housed within the Iowa Economic Development Authority (IEDA), is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Empower Rural Iowa (ERI) initiative, implementing ERI task force recommendations, acting as a liaison to rural communities, and helping small communities access programs that support rural areas. This position is located at our Des Moines office and will be required to work in office at least four days per week.

The Empower Rural Iowa Director position is a non-contract, non-merit position that is classified by the State of Iowa as an Economic Development Specialist 3. This position is exempt (salaried) per FLSA regulations.

Minimum Qualification Requirements
Graduation from an accredited four year college or university with major coursework in research, planning, economics, public relations, business, corporate finance, journalism, or marketing and experience equal to two years of full-time work that involved responsibility for interpreting laws, rules and regulations, and/or securing compliance with them; or program administration, development, management and/or operations;
OR
An equivalent combination of education and experience substituting one year of the above required experience for each year (thirty semester or equivalent hours) of the required education.
Additional Qualification Requirements
Employees will be required to travel. Some positions may require employees to furnish their own means of transportation in order to conduct state business.

- Responsible for marketing and promoting the ERI initiatives established by the ERI Board
- Staffs and coordinates the Governor's ERI Board
- Frequently travels state-wide to develop relationships with key stakeholders and presents opportunities, programs, and resources administered by IEDA
- Represents IEDA at conferences and meetings that pertain to rural community development involving representatives from rural Iowa communities, businesses, and state and federal agencies and governmental units
- Oversees the coordination and execution of assigned programs in accordance with published regulations, guidelines and procedures, as well as state and federal laws and rules
- Coordinates the development of program documents, forms, and content to engage and inform stakeholders
